SOLID HARDWOOD THREE BASIC TYPES
A solid hardwood floor can be installed on a concrete slab as long as the floor is on or above ground level because of their sensitivity to moisture.
You can refinish, or recoat solid wood floors several times, which adds to their appeal and to their long life.
STRIP
Strip flooring accounts for the majority of installations. They are installed by nailing to the subfloor.
PLANK
Plank flooring boards are at least 3 inches wide. They can be screwed or nailed to the subfloor. Screw holes can be covered with wooden plugs.
PARQUET
Parquet flooring comes in standard patterns of 6″ x 6″ blocks. Parquet can often achieve dramatic geometric effects of special design patterns.
SPECIES
There are many different hardwood species around the world. The most popular include Red Oak, Maple, Yellow Birch, White Ash, Cherry, Jatoba, Cabreuva, American Cherry, and Walnut.
