Floor Vents

Floor vents are both functional and decorative. Although the main function of floor vents is to connect your air conditioning system to your home, it can also serve as the finishing touches to a well installed floor.

In general, there are two main categories of floor vents: Flushmount and drop-in. Flushmount vents are installed with your floors and are flush with the floors, hence the name flush mount. The frame of these vents are installed in the floors and they require precision cutting techniques by the installer for a clean outcome, since the border between the frame and the flooring is visible. Drop-in floor vents, drop into a precut hole in the flooring and sit on top of the said opening. In this case the floor vents are self-rimming and the cut that allows them to drop in do not have to be as precise as the flushmount vents.

Both flushmount and drop-in vents are available in metal and wood fabrications. Metal floor vents are prefabricated and some have the ability for you to install a piece of your floors into it so they will match the floors. Wooden floor vents, by contrast, can be prefabricated and stained to match your floors, or can be made from engineered hardwood materials. This will be dependent on the specifications of the client and the needs of the site.
