Trends in hardwood flooring colours are changing and we can see this clearly based on the flooring options that our clients are purchasing.
Pantone introduced the colour of the year in December of 2024 and it signaled a warming up of colour pallets in all design fields. And interior design and flooring options have not been exempted. Here are the list of the 10 top colour that our clients have purchased thus far in 2025.
You will notice that white oak engineered hardwood floors are still the preferred choice for many. With the recent cooling trends on colours of flooring, it is no surprise that white oak with its more olive toned natural colour is still popular. However, a great warming trend is being seen in flooring options. Even with white oak hardwood options, we are seeing more and more clients move towards natural or warm neutral colours.
Red oak, hard maple, and hickory, also continue to be popular options with GTA residents, even though 8 out of the 10 options shown here are wide plank white oak engineered hardwood floors. Though its true that most clients chose to purchase white oak hardwood floors, there are more and more clients considering the red oak options as well. This may partially be because of the movement back towards naturally warm and neutral colour pallets when it comes to flooring, specially with the rise in biophilic design.
